When you only have the use of one hand, cooking requires some creativity.
In New Jersey, Bob only has the use of one hand and arm after a stroke. But he has figured out numerous workarounds in the kitchen.
His go-to? An 8 1/2 x 11 silicone trivet. In the past, he’d use a glove/mitt to grab things, but it required using his teeth to slide it over his hand. Now, he simply picks up this ample sized trivet, which has ridges that provide traction and grip, and uses it for most everything. It’s size means it covers the edge of a pan, lets him move oven racks, and so on. And it still works darn well as a trivet too.
